Fort Drum Family and MWR strives to provide Soldiers and their Families with all the necessary needs
and recreation to make Fort Drum your home.
To kick off the holiday season for Fort Drum, Military Families are invited to The Commons on the evening of December 10 to enjoy Fort Drum’s Annual Tree and Menorah Lighting and Family Holiday Celebration. This is one of the most highly attended special events presented to the Fort Drum Community.
The festivities will begin at 5:15 pm in front of the Commons with a welcome and lighting of the Fort Drum Christmas Tree and Menorah. The Doors to Santa’s workshop, inside the Commons Ballroom, will not open until after the Tree and Menorah Lighting ceremony and Families attending the lighting will receive fast track ticket to get in the Santa line. Parents should be sure to bring their own camera to take pictures of children as they have a private visit with Santa. After their visit, Children can visit Santa’s Magic Toy Machine and receive an age-appropriate toy. Other activities indoors include carols sung by the CYSS Youth Choir and an appreciation ceremony to thank the organizations, such as AUSA, USAA, AmeriCU and Mountain Community Homes, for sponsoring this event. Free photos will be taken of children with holiday characters such as Frosty The Snowman, The Holiday Bear, and Mrs. Claus in the atrium (ballroom lobby) and Child, Youth and School Services Boys and Girls Club will offer holiday treats along with a Holiday craft and Pizza, cookies and punch will be provided in the Commons Ballrooms. This is a free event. Doors for indoor festivities open after tree/menorah ceremony. Call 772- 5370 for more information.
